Review Text: The Long Goodbye for the post-truth era. It has a love of classic Hollywood thrillers and pop culture ephemera, as well as one of the more memorable "I am the source of all your pain" scenes I've seen in a while. Andrew Garfield walks a tightrope with a performance that's magnetic, comedic, and paranoid. Rating: Loved It!

Never fails to impress me. Wick manages to be a terrifying murder machine while also being vulnerable (both physically and emotionally). Plus just enough world building to make this assassin-heavy world seem plausible.
An unstoppable force tears through a bunch of bad people as the stakes get higher and more absurd. Josh Hutcherson is a hilariously hate-worthy tech bro. WYSIWYG
Such an intimate performance with a terrific cast. The conceit of watching a rehearsal makes it feel somewhat voyeuristic in a way that a traditional film adaptation wouldn’t. Loved the slow simmering of repressed emotions and grievances. A compelling watch from start to finish.
A lot of this doesn’t hold up since so much has changed in the last 15 years of the media landscape. But the middle part where Frank and Roxy have an intergenerational debate about who is just annoying and who they can feel justified in murdering has some solid moments. There’s also a twist at the end that still works very well.
The Simpsons: Helen Lovejoy yells “PERVERT!”
In a lot of ways this is a time capsule. The first two thirds had me laughing, but it lost me toward the end as the punishments the story handed down to characters for their hubris shifted the tone to something more mean-spirited than ironic.

Went in expecting a parody, but it’s more a queer pastiche of 1950’s teen flicks? It’s the kind of thing I enjoyed because I grew up with my dad’s VHS collection and MST3K, so I’m aware this could be an acquired taste. Rating: Liked It
This is such a well-written sci-fi/action film. The pacing, the breadcrumbs of info on the future, and the pulpy but rarely cheesy dialogue. And Sarah Conner’s evolution from unlucky nobody to a bad-ass with grit and purpose?👨‍🍳😘👌 Review score: Loved It!
A briskly paced sci-fi conspiracy with an incredibly creepy villain. The sound design and overall paranoid vibe goes a long way, because the last 30 minutes or so throws a whole lot of “wait, what‽” at the audience. It would be very silly if everybody onscreen wasn’t totally committed to the bit. Review score: Liked It
Maybe the best superhero film of all time. Definitely the one that honors its comic book origins instead of trying to reinvent or apologize for them. Every time I watch this I feel as pumped up as the first time. Rating: Loved It!
I’m a sucker for Ke Huy Quan and ex-criminal dragged back into The Life stories. Some fun action sequences and it was under 90 minutes (So rare!), so I had a pretty good time. Rating: Decent
Review text: If North by Northwest was created to be the most Hitchcock movie, this felt like that for Cronenberg. Body horror, sexual obsession, conspiracy. Fascinating mix of grief and paranoia. Rating: Liked it.
It’s interesting how medium impacts the sense of pacing. If this were live action it would’ve felt slow, but the oddness of the stop-motion is just enough to let you give yourself over to the moment and soak it in. Also, Jennifer Jason Leigh is excellent casting as someone whose specific voice stands out and makes even the most mundane route talk sound beautiful.
