Unlike in algae and other phototrophs, plant thylakoids form specialized grana stacks🥞 interconnected by single thylakoids called stromal lamellae. The 3D membrane architecture we observed is consistent with the “helical staircase model” proposed from classical TEM (💚🔬 Andrew Staehelin, RIP). 2/🧵
