The first thought Ren has when he sees Goro Akechi for the first time is, wow, this guy looks like he’s full of shit. Fake ass smile, faker words and pleasantries—it’s obvious right off the bat that something just isn’t right. The second thought is, holy shit, he’s pretty. He forgets everything he was thinking about how fake that smile is in favor of glancing a little too long at lips opening and closing around delicate vowels. If Ren were to make an educated guess, Akechi looks like he wears chapstick, moisturizes even. His lips are probably soft, and there’s not a whole lot of ways to check other than to feel for himself, preferably with his own lips, just because, you know, it’s probably more insightful— He needs to focus.
“I’m sure you’d be inclined to deny it, but,” he pauses, letting the words hang in the air as he drags his gaze up Akira’s face, “you’re just as much of an attention whore as I am, aren’t you?” He’s close. Too close. Voice too casual and knowing despite the way it makes a shudder crawl up Akira’s spine. His throat lurches to deny it, because yeah—maybe he does like a little bit of attention, maybe he does enjoy being Joker a bit too much, maybe he— The rebuttal dies in his throat when he sees Akechi is still looking at him. And oh, if he’s a whore for anyone’s attention, it’s from the man sitting next to him, leaned back with an arm slung over the back of his seat and legs crossed, relaxed. He’d drown in it if he could, would commit unspeakable acts to keep that unflinching crimson gaze on him. “And what makes you say that, Detective?” he tries not to croak. “Hm. Just a hunch.” The smile accompanying it is sly as his gaze flits away, like this is all some funny inside joke. As if he’s not flaying Akira open by the seams.

He’s been doing an exceptional job at convincing himself that this has all been for the mission—that all he’s doing is gathering intelligence on the target. But, ah, that’s somewhat difficult when said target currently has his tongue shoved halfway down his throat. Akechi’s mind goes a fuzzy sort of blank, one where words struggle to retain coherency, where thoughts and feelings bleed and blend with no regard for proper boundaries. What was he thinking about again? The mission—right, for the mission. He deems it highly necessary information to know that the target likes having his hair tugged on slightly while being kissed back. Very important. Absolutely. And then—he can’t really think about anything at all because Ren changes the angle that their mouths slot together and it all turns into blissful white noise. Somewhere he hears the sound of someone groaning and it might have been him, but he can barely tell by this point. It doesn’t matter.

Akechi’s pupils are blown out so far they nearly encompass his irises—his gaze is manic, tender. He stares down at Akira with an incomprehensible cocktail of emotions, soft locks of brown hair falling to frame his face. “I hate you,” he whispers, like a prayer. It is as sincere as sincere can be when he’s leaning down in the same breath to rest their foreheads together. Akira is gone. The thrum of a heartbeat is loud in his ears and he can’t tell if it’s his or Akechi’s, if there ever was a difference from the start. All he knows is that in the next heartbeat, Akechi rises from where he’s leaned over and thumbs Akira’s bottom lip, breathing heavily. “I hate you,” he says again, laced with a bitter irony, before sealing their mouths at the seams.
