Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is directly tied to its predecessor, but it was much bolder with its narrative design. The showrunners took bigger risks, resulting in increased ratings and a more positive critical consensus. The franchise also began to recast early characters like Spock, who had already made such an impact. It was time to refresh the franchise, and that's where unusual ideas came to the forefront.

Finally, it’s the Steam CONTROLLER. As brilliant as it is, it doesn’t reinvent the wheel, so if you don’t usually play PC games with a controller and you’re hoping this might be a gateway, don’t count on it. Valve may have been claiming in interviews that the touch pads and gyro aiming bring it close to a keyboard and mouse experience, but in reality that isn’t the case.

What most gamers actually want are games that run at a consistent framerate and a sharp resolution, with consistent lighting and art design, on hardware that doesn't require us to remortgage our house, using technology that doesn't necessitate turning the world into a Mad Max wasteland. At least, that's what I want to play, and that's what I intend to continue making. I don't know if DLSS5 is going to be here to stay or not, but it's heartening to at least see so many of us in agreement. This is not the direction we care about, and it's not the technology we want to pay for, and hopefully if we're all loud and insistent enough, and we throw the weight of our wallets around, companies like Nvidia will eventually get the message. That or this will simply be the newest in a long line of features that indie developers don't have to use, and the indie and AA scenes will continue to provide a wild variety of visual styles that don't require thousands of dollars in hardware to render.
First of all, who asked for this?! This isn't even DLSS! Please tell me what generative Al has anything to do with Deep Learning Super Sampling - which is what DLSS actually stands for in case anyone forgot. They're hiding this Gen Al bullshit behind the DLSS moniker because they think we're stupid. "Hey you guys like DLSS right? You know that thing you turn on that gives you a blurrier picture and higher frame rates? You love that! Anyway this is what DLSS does now. Wow! Don't you love it?!" They know if they called it something like "Nvidia Generative Upscaling" the public backlash would be immediate and intense. But unfortunately for Nvidia, even if they call it “DLSS 5” we all have working eyes and can see that this is exactly what we think it is. "But it's optional bro!” You know what's not optional? Paying more and getting less - which is what we've been doing with Nvidia for years now. Enough is enough. The only thing we can do besides calling them out on it and making them feel bad is voting with our wallets. Cripple their sales, tank their stock price. Stop collaborating with them as developers. Then maybe they'll think about going back to giving us what we want. More visual processing power and more value per dollar for technology that *SHOULD* be getting cheaper with every new innovation, not somehow more expensive while we get less value and our games somehow look worse. We as developers and players need to push back against this bullshit just like we did with NFTs and crypto games and try in vain to do with predatory micro transactions, loot boxes and battle passes.

"It is Double Exposure 2, with a more likely release of 2026. DE2 was part of Square's contract with Deck Nine for DE. It was never not going to be made. Also Deck Nine is laying off every department one at a time after they finish their last work. Animation -> Design -> QA -> Engineering, one at a time, until the game is out. Mark Lyons, Jeff Lichford, and Stephen Frost were not able to secure additional projects, so they will tear out the entire dev team in the hopes of finding a way to survive later on.

Something that looks kind of like a revolver but made completely out of rusted sheet metal. The normal cylinder that would carry the chambers for rounds is fully sealed up and could not move, and also does not have any holes in front to align with the barrel. This design could technically work if it had an internal cylinder that spun within its sheet-metal-wrapped housing, except the barrel is modeled too high up and doesn't line up with where the rounds in the cylinder would come out.

Understandably I want to remain anonymous due to retaliation from the Company, but I may be willing to verify I’m an employee with @Spider-Vice via DM (if required). I am also a member of the Union. I’ve been reading a lot of the discussion on here and elsewhere on about the firing of more than 34 of my colleagues last week (31 in the UK + 3 in Canada) and have seen a lot of disinformation and lies that are really concerning. Particularly concerning how so many folk are willing to believe the Company’s excuses. Last week, my colleagues who were in the studio were each individually messaged by HR for a short friendly meeting, under the friendly guise of “Hey, are you free for a quick chat?” Upon attending this meeting they were handed an envelope whit a short letter stating that their employment had been terminated for “gross misconduct” regarding posts made in Discord. They failed to provide any evidence when asked, nor was any stated in the letter. And did not divulge any other information or reasoning – “and no other reason” They refused their right to Union representation in the disciplinary meeting (which is against UK employment law) and were frogmarched out of the studio with the meeting lasting less than 5 minutes. For colleagues who were not in the Studio that day, they received an phone call from HR that lasted less than 2 minutes telling them they were fired and that they’d receive the same letter as above. I am aware of one employee who had a panic attack at this moment, and HR hung up on them during this panic attack not caring at all about their wellbeing. These colleagues of mine were hard workers who have spent many many years at R* in critical roles. With colleagues who have been at R* for more than 18 years and none of them have ever had a disciplinary in that time. They are not easily replaced and will certainly affect us in making our project deadlines.
