That even if in our world their experiences are programmed and predetermined, that shouldnā€™t take away from the characterā€™s perceived reality. They may all be objects, but that doesnā€™t make darkners and their experiences any less ā€œrealā€ than the lives of lightners, and even if lightners turn out just to be characters in a video game, the same applies to them. If that is their perceived reality, then those experiences still matter. Itā€™s a harder pill to swallow for us more than them because of the lens we view them through.
