Last time I was at White Sands National Park it looked a little different, with snow. Copilot does things "Holly-style" for me, here asked to rate the what I experienced in January 2025, vs typical years.

White Sands with snow
Yesssss I just went to cloud Croft and then white sands for the first time. Truly an incredible place. I was running away from the fireworks and it was perfect.

White Sands is magical.
Used to love going to White Sands as a kid in the early 60's. Captured a white horned toad there then, which dripped red blood from its eyes when it was angry. Went back in 2015 (but saw no toads):

I grew up by there. We would sneak across the fence and start a fire to cook s’mores on the sand dunes. You could see security lights coming from pretty far so we always got across the fence before we got caught.
