When this bridge was originally built, it was in Virginia. Covered wagons would cross it on their way to Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois via the National Road. Today, it's in West Virginia (people in Wheeling weren't treasonous Confederates and agreed to end slavery) and it's open to walking and bikes.
