Reddit comment downplaying a destructive winds warning and a response from me. Thanks for noticing! The 80mph wins threshold for "Destructive Wind" come with phone alerts designed with a higher damage threshold in mind. The heightened public awareness was designed in the last decade to improve response for high confidence / high impact damage thunderstorms. 80mph wins are shown to have similar or higher impact to a small tornado. We can see that just by looking around town right now.
