Download a local-network mirroring app
Requires internet (do this at home first)
Install a screen-mirroring app that supports local IP connections on both devices. LetsView and ApowerMirror are the most reliable cross-platform options. (If your phone is an Android, an app called ScreenStream is fantastic because the tablet won't even need an app-it just views the feed via its web browser).
Turn your phone into a router
In the field
Turn on your phone's Mobile Hotspot. It will broadcast a local Wi-Fi signal even without cellular service.
Connect the tablet
Open the tablet's Wi-Fi settings and connect to the phone's hotspot. The two devices are now talking to each other on a private, offline local network.
Start the broadcast
Open the mirroring app on both devices. The tablet will detect the phone on the local network. Start the screen cast.
Mount and observe
Attach the phone to the telescope eyepiece and open your camera app.
The tablet will immediately show the live feed.
