Born in South London. Moved from Southwark to Norfolk many moons ago. Will probably end up posting mostly the landscape around Sheringham. The penny dropped and the mechanism emitted a faint whirring noise.

A painted lady butterfly in the midst of red valerian flowers, Sheringham, 31/05/26. The butterfly is feeding on the flowers, with the underside of its' near wing visible and the top of the far wing similarly on show.
I reckon there are 30 turnstones in this photo of the seawall at Sheringham beneath The Crown. 04/04/26.
Looking north-east from Skelding Hill, Sheringham over the North Sea just before sunrise, 04/04/26. Probably the best way to describe the sky is as looking at the atmosphere of Jupiter! Swirls of white cloud, interspersed with grey clouds, lit by the orange light of the rising sun which has yet to rise above the horizon. On the horizon in silhouette is a vessel which I presume to be the Rambiz, a Belgian Heavy Lift Vessel which is shown on Marine Traffic to be at anchor around there.

Sheringham as seen from Skedling Hill, 26/03/26. The rising sun is partly obscured by cloud in the east and most of the town is in shadow, as the cliffs go from bottom left to Beeston Bump at middle right.
A male kestrel hovering over the cliffs at the west of Sheringham in a strong North-West breeze. It is having to maintain a 45 degree angle to hover in the same position. It was just above my head height and looking down in the top middle of the photo. The fence posts from the old coastal path are in the bottom left corner of the photo, with the shingle bank to the west of Weybourne visible in the background.
A lone turnstone walks along the top of the sea wall at Sheringham, in front of The Crown. The turnstone has its' back to the camera showing off its brown plumage and from its' gait, it is in motion.
The waters of the boating lake at Sheringham were still first thing this morning, 21/03/26, just before sunrise. The sky is reflected in the water, which spans most of the bottom half of the photo. It is mostly a pale blue, with a few cotton wool grey clouds, with some white vapour trails visible as well. The shelter by the boating lake is visible at the left of the photo and it's silhouette is reflected in the water beneath it.
Sheringham seen from Skedling Hill, around 06:15 19/03/26. The sun is rising at the left edge of the photo and a thick orange band is visible on the North Sea. A haze sits over Sherningham and the sun gives it an orange tint. The spire of St. Peter's Church is just visible in the middle of the photo.

Two-spot ladybird on the branch of a gorse in the morning sunshine, 19/03/26. It is the typica form but the spots on its' elytra are kidney shaped. Ladybird facing down towards bottom of photo.
Peacock butterfly at rest on the morning sun on the east side of Skelding Hill, Sheringham, 05/03/26. Not the first butterfly I've seen this year but the first one I could identify. I let it settle before getting the photo.

Greater Anglia Class 755/3 unit 755336 waiting at Sheringham station for its' departure with 2S05 07:14 train to Norwich, as the sun rises in the east behind it. The sky is filled with pinks and oranges at the bottom and purples to the top.
A No smoking sign on the window of preserved Class 101 DMCL W51505, which is based on the North Norfolk Railway. Seen at Weybourne Station, 14/02/26. I presume this has been there since before it was withdrawn. Sign is a cigarette pointing with its tip diagonally down to the left, with a white bar across it. No smoking underneath, with Penalty £50 maximum at the bottom. White on red background. I certainly remember these signs from back in the day.
As far as I can tell, eight harlequin ladybirds , with six seven-spot ladybirds shelter inside a hole carved out of a wooden fence post on the west facing side on the north edge of the path that connects Sheringham Park and Weybourne Heath. 14/02/26. This usually is a place where you can find ladybirds/
Colour macro photo looking inside the corona of a daffodil flower. The pistil is surrounded by the stamen. The three stamen above left of the pistil look to be cupping it like fingers. Yellow abounds.
RM6 stands on the south side of Crystal Palace Parade, as far as I know on 03/02/91, after taking part in a run to celebrate the 35th anniversary of RM1 entering service in London on Route 2, which then was from Croicklewood to Crystal Palace. RM6 was at the time allocated to Norwood Garage and operated on the 2B, which was still running to Crystal Palace at the time, although not on Sundays. A RM that ran in Glasgow is behind RM6.
A crocus starting to flower. In the centre of the photo purple leaves are starting to unfurl, allowing the orange stamen to be visible. Also visible are white outer leaves. In the background are other crocuses in stages of opening.

The Eastern Black Redstart that has been resident in Sheringham for the last month or so, seen resting on a ledge, a third of the way up the south side of the former Burlington Hotel that is now flats. Bord is in the middle of the photo.

Monochrome image of 'waves' of ice at the east end of Sheringham Boating Lake, 05/01/26. After north-westerly winds over the last few days, the water has frozen over most of the lake, with the ice at east end formed into ripples which look like waves frozen in ice.

87006 'City of Glasgow' leaving platform 5 at Crewe light engine on a Sunday after working a train from London Euston. 87006 is heading for the Manchester lines which head off to the right of the picture. Photo probably taken around midday as the sun is pretty much head on to the rear cab. Loco in early Inter-City livery, with yellow ends and a BR double arrow just visible on the bodyside of 87006. The West Coast Main Line to Liverpool and Scotland disappears into the distance to the right of 87006. Lots of structures to support the overhead wires are visible. 87006 is framed between the post of signal CE157, shunt signal visible, and a stanchion on the right.
Class 87 locomotives 87027 'Wolf of Badenoch' and 87030 'Black Douglas' at Euston around 1990. Both locomotives are in early versions of Inter-City livery, which the band extending around the cab of 87027, where 87030 has full yellow ends up to the front windows. 87027 has normal size numbers, while 87030 has larger ones.

A group of six seven-spot ladybirds grouped around the top of a gorse stalk, Skelding Hill, Sheringham, 15/07/25. There is a presumed dinocampus coccinellae wasp on a leaf above the seven-spot ladybird that is furthest right. There also is a second wasp crawling over the shell of the ladybird at the bottom.
I went back up again mid-morning, 15/07/25, to see if the ladybirds were still on the end of the gorse stalk. They were, although one of the seven-spots was now on top of one of the others. There looks to be a dinocampus coccinellae wasp bottom right.

Shortly after a third seven-spot ladybird appeared and crawled up the gorse stalk to where the other two seven-spots were. The first two seven-spot ladybirds found are in the foreground top left with the photo, with a presumed dinocampus cocinellae wasp crawling over the left of the two seven-spots. The third ladybird is approaching underneath the ladybird on the right.
I soon noticed that there little insects crawling over the two ladybirds, which I believe are the parasitic wasp dinocampus coccinellae. There is one wasp that is spanning pretty much the pronotums of the two ladybirds. There is a second one around the right edge of the pronotum of the ladybird on the left but it is slightly obscured by the glare of the moring sun.
It starts with finding these two seven-spot ladybirds grouped around the top of a stalk of gorse on Skelding Hill, Sheringham, 15/07/25. They look like they are kissing, with their pronotum facing each other.
Recently emerged large white butterfly resting on a white pvc window frame, Butterfly is facing towards the top of the photo with its' wings closed. Lit by the sunshine, its' shadow is visible to the right.
And this is what I found when I returned at 06:53, 10/07/25: The large white butterfly has emerged from its' chrysalis and is now resting on the frame above. The empty chrysalis is visible at bottom right.

This is the view of the left side of the cocoon of the large white butterfly. The most interesting thing for me is the left wing being visible on the top half. You can see the black spots curving up towards the middle. There is also a white leg sticking out.
