Incredibly excited to present this key art visual piece by the amazing Meilon_Soda! This piece is an homage to the incredible artwork of Seiichiro Hosokawa in celebration of the thirty year anniversary of the Dot//Hack series! The IMOQ series and GU stories were both large influences on the kind of anime and media I grew up with, and one of my favorite series in general! Depicted are Gouketsu, Mezai, Shingen, and Serena! I know what you're thinking, and there's actually a huge lore reason as to why he has a wing (he originally had two and has the scar for the other). Some BTS for the world of this book series: most every area mentioned or visited is loosely based on the real world or its mythological counterparts! This includes people, as, besides the main cast, all names are taken from the pages of myth and history!
Even though they’re powerful, rynocs are usually docile until provoked and will avoid crossing paths with other beast tribes and humans. Unlike their neighbors, the rynocs attempt to remain neutral unless threatened; some have even integrated into both Tenshou and Jigoku-controlled lands as workers. Those that have moved into human society are unnatural outliers but have been some of the most intelligent members of the rynoc family, contributing to the vast markets of Tenshou and Jigoku. Those that choose to remain in their wild territories are usually successful at protecting their lands, even having been documented teaming up with humans and elephunks to fight off dragons invading their land. Intelligent, powerful, short, and some may even argue cute, the rynoc is a versatile species and one of Avalon’s most successful. If they continue to evolve in the direction they have been since they were discovered before the flood, then many believe they will eventually fully integrate into human society. One can only hope that these mighty warriors will one day cooperate with mankind.

The world of Avalon. Many of the places are named off of real-world myths, legends, or important places. Fleshing out this world will be such a journey, and yes, there will be some counterparts to real or mythical figures like Gilgamesh, King Arthur, Ickabod, and many more! They won't be exact copies, loose counterparts, and some may be in name only. Get ready to follow Gouketsu on his journey in this war-torn world!
