Before this internship, I probably had that same instinct myself, to hear something described as forensic evidence and immediately assume it was especially solid or objective. But the more I learned, the more I realized that some evidence can function almost like a black box: it is treated as highly credible from the outside, while the actual method, limits, or interpretation behind it are much less visible. That was surprising to me, and it made me think more seriously about fairness, especially in cases where so much can depend on whether evidence is questioned carefully or simply accepted.””
