Text on image: Tired but not surprised that this conversation continues to go on, so let me get a few thoughts on generative AI out of my chest. Those who equate the training of AI with the way existing works influence human-made pieces reduce it to single instances of AI-generated content, ignoring a system built to exploit the entire body of work of countless artists and treat them as free assets for the financial profit of a few companies. The lack of any say from the authors of the artworks that AI parasites from when grabbing data sets we are not even given the chance to opt-out of is simply unethical. GenAI does not exist without the works it leeches from, yet we are expected to accept the abuse of our crafts. This is especially callous towards a field comprised of independent artists, who lack the resources to stand their ground against the corporate greed of the cringy tech grifters pushing for the erosion individual rights. An outcome where the price of just existing as a creative online might be to forfeit all ownership of the fruits of your labor to the pipeline of an inherently abusive system by default is not one a look forward to. I do not stand for the stifling of technology but its responsible growth.
