Thu and Fri are the final 2 days of my class, but before I go back I want to restore this antique router plane that I picked up in a lot last week. This is a Stanley No. 71 and I believe it dates to 1896-1901. I want a usable tool that preserves the patina on non-work surfaces. 2 before / 2 after:

ah mate thats a fuckin beauty I been trying to score a 71 for ages
I used a light touch: 'Simple Green', a brass brush, a toothbrush, and 120 grit sandpaper where the brush couldn't get. Wiped down metal with WD-40. I ground the flat bottom of the blade on a 400 grit diamond stone. It needs a bit more before I work on the bevel. Wood handles cleaned & waxed.
