I also looked into why it we couldn'tcomplete one of the scoring mechanics: 'picking up' Gorbachev. When the ball is shot up his ramp, it hits a switch that then triggers a solenoid to open a one-way gate. I learned our gate wasn't opening! The solenoid works but the gate stays closed. This is why.

I found this spring still attached to the mechanism and solenoid wrapped in tape. This is one of the many bodged fixes I've encountered since purchasing this machine "restored" at Allentown Pinfest a few years ago. I wish I'd gone into that transaction knowing a lot more — definitely feel cheated.
