Santa, steaming and smoldering after enduring all of Apokolips’s defenses, stands unphased by the gauntlet. “You’re making it tougher to get here each Christmas, I’ll give you that.” Santa strides toward the new god, standing with his arms behind his back. “But we each have our duties to perform, young fella…, and I have to go about mine” Santa says, his tone as jolly as ever. Santa places his spectacles upon his kind and jolly face. “Ohh… tch-tch-tch,” Santa tuts audibly, “definitely naughty.” We see Santa stand directly in front of Darkseid, holding aloft the dark ruler’s prize. “It’s a lump of coal for you again.” Darkseid’s eyes begin to glow, as though he will soon fire an omega beam at ol’ Saint Nick. “Don’t let him leave here alive.” Darkseid commands. Santa, reading the room expertly, is already some ways away booking it at top speed. “Oops, gotta go!” He cringled, his feet carrying him with great speed. “See you next year!” Santa promises as he flees the scene. We end on a shot of a reindeer-drawn sleigh dodging lasers from the hellish planet below, all while Santa’s laugh bellows through the atmosphere. “HO HO HO HO HO.” Happy Xmas
Superman, fresh from an intimidating landing stands to attention with glowing red eyes, fading over the course of 3 frames to a look of astonishment and betrayal. The first frame he stands in a mild squat, rocks still finding their way back to the ground after the impact. “You never said—“ he says as his posture raises further. The next frame has him standing with one shoulder shifted towards our perspective, his eyes glowing bright red. “That you knew.” He says, the word Knew in bold letters. At last, the final panel. Superman’s face is filled with a childlike disappointment. This is a man who never stopped believing, even in the cynical world he strives to inspire, and there stands his personal hero, a man he’s longed to meet standing next to his best friend, his former apprentice. This frame holds a single word, and the weight of this shift in his reality is felt through it like a punch from his own fist. “Santa.” Superman’s eyes, piercing blue and wide in shock, are haunting to say the least.

A depiction of the 5 and a half minute hallway from House of Leaves. We see 3 rooms; a room which our perspective resides, a room set as a transitionary one between our perspective and the third room, and the third room; a room defined by its bright nature. Along with the 3 rooms, there is a hallway that seems to lead from the first room to the third while also seemingly lacking any light from the 3rd room bleeding it. While inspired by the titular hallway from House of leaves, this piece is more of an attempt of approaching the visual feeling of the visual. The overall piece approaches a style similar to a children’s book with hard, thin lines and soft water colors. The intention was simply to allow light to play in the space in a way that approaches familiarity of a home while allowing the dread of the hallway to stand in stark contrast. The image itself was made in the iPad version of Sketchbook.
