A baseball jersey (1950s era) from the Laurentian Athletic Club of Cleveland (front view; reads "LAURENTIANS" with a tiny number 44 near the bottom), behind glass in the Laurentian Club room in the basement of the Slovenian National Home on E. 80th. Glowing reflection is not ectoplasm, but a fluorescent light. The best way to defeat "Big Mike" does not involve violence, as he is incorporeal so you can't hit him. Instead, bring a pack of unfiltered Camel cigarettes and a lighter, and smoke one in the room with him (he can't smoke one himself, but he can enjoy the smoke you make in small sips); then pull out your music playing device and play the song "'Til Then", by the Mills Brothers, which was his sister Zravka's favorite song (she passed young, in 1955). Don't answer questions about your music device, it only confuses him, + DON'T cough up the smoke; or he'll think you're a sissy. Both are bad, + you'll wind up out on Union Avenue with a headache, bruises, and no wallet or shoes. He's always been a bully. Do this right, tho', + he'll pull a secret bottle of Black Velvet whiskey he hid in the ceiling in 1968 + give you a double-shot and a can of the Last True Cleveland Pilsner, which will taste like the Gods' own private stock and earn you the presence of your favorite grandparent in the room for precisely 10 minutes. SCENE is the longest-running alt-weekly in Cleveland; I've been reading it since around 1976. It used to be a mostly music paper; but the 90's (+ several ownership changes) changed it into mostly restaurant/big event type coverage. The annual "Best Of Cleveland" poll endures, however; + last year we were lucky enough to win "Best Local Album" with our 2nd album, "This Is BS Too ".
