The Cheshire Lines Railway evolved to include the Great Northern, Manchester, Sheffield & Lincolnshire, and Midland Railways to create a unified network connecting Liverpool, Manchester, and Cheshire, with its main line opening in 1877. This poster would have been displayed in stations.

It gives the distance, in miles, to local and not so local places: Tarvin 5 miles, Chester 10 miles, London 172 miles! It is painted white and stands against an old brick wall on the High Street.

The keynote speaker for our History day Conference is Alan Crosby. The picture shows a recent photograph of him and very brief details of his local history interests.

Our first post! This picture shows a copy of a map by Christopher Saxton created in 1577. The main roads and major towns are shown although the spellings differ from the modern day versions.
