Methane is 28 times more potent than CO2 but stays in the atmosphere for a much shorter period. Immediate action to reduce methane could bring down warming relatively quickly. In 1.5°C compatible pathways, global methane emissions must fall ~34% by 2030 and ~40% by 2035 from 2019 levels.
