Cultural heritage, including both tangible and intangible aspects, is deeply intertwined with the climate crisis, possessing traditional knowledge and practices that can inform climate resilience and adaptation strategies, while also being closely tied to community and socio-cultural systems that influence human behaviour and relationships with the environment. Moreover, natural heritage sites, such as UNESCO World Heritage forests, are crucial carbon sinks, storing approximately 13 billion tonnes of carbon and absorbing around 190 million tonnes of CO2 per year; however, these forests face alarming threats, having lost 3.5 million hectares between 2001 and 2020, highlighting the need to integrate cultural and natural heritage into climate action, enhance climate resilience, foster sustainable development, and support climate justice (UNESCO).
