In 1968, scientists briefed the American Petroleum Institute on the potential impacts of CO₂ emissions from fossil fuels. Their report projected that atmospheric CO₂ could reach 400ppm by 2000, causing “serious world-wide environmental changes.” Last year, Earth’s CO₂ levels surpassed 430 ppm. 😑
