In all fairness they look as good on a modern TV with a good shader. People have created wonderful shaders that emulate different kinds of CRT screens and signals. I am saying this while sitting next to a MiSTer FPGA connected over RGB (SCART) to a 14" Trinitron. I have no horse in this race :)
