As a mother who has lost a daughter to addiction, I know the heartbreak, helplessness, and pain that so many families quietly carry every single day. One thing I wish more people knew about is the Lethbridge Youth Treatment Centre. They offer a voluntary, live-in treatment program for youth who are ready and willing to take that first step toward recovery. Sometimes, simply knowing that help exists can make all the difference. #mondaynightsmeanoutreach 💗 Tonight, we were back out in the downtown core, meeting people where they are and offering Outreach services to our unhoused neighbours. The numbers were smaller than usual tonight, but that didn't make the evening any less important. Every person we met mattered. Every conversation mattered. And for those we did connect with, it was clear that seeing a familiar face and knowing someone cared meant something. We provided snack bags, sandwiches, underwear, period supplies, harm reduction supplies, condoms, sunscreen, body wipes, wet sponges to help people cool down, and other items that were needed. We also offered housing check-ins and resource referrals. We called the HELP Team to help one person get to a safer place for the night, and we completed wellness checks on two people to make sure they were okay. Tonight, our hearts were also with 11-year-old Parker, who is still missing. As we walked through the downtown core, we kept our eyes open and checked garbage and recycling bins and other places we thought a child might be able to fit. We are asking everyone to please keep looking. Please double- and triple-check your RVs, boats, sheds, backyards, garages, playhouses, and even under your decks. Check the places you might not think to look. Talk to your neighbours. Share his information. Keep your eyes peeled. We never know where the smallest detail might lead. A huge thank-you to our amazing volunteers Nadine, Jadyn, and Danielle for showing up and putting care into action. And a very warm welcome to Genevieve, who joined us for her initial shift tonight!
