The single digit math is circular 0-9 so 09+02=01 If the double digit math is a triple digit result, subtract 100. So 99+02=101-100=01 & if it is a negative result, multiply by -1. So 08-99=-91(-1)=91

Book Wyrm: PCs act by rolling their skill checks with a d4 and adding their skill total. They must roll under a target number to succeed. The range of difficulties: 13: impossible to fail 12: I can do it with my eyes closed 11: it’s a breeze 10: pretty doable 09: 50/50 shot 08: a slight challenge 07: a hefty challenge 06: a lofty goal 05: almost impossible 04: impossible For times when there is no possibility of danger or setback, PCs may act freely without rolling. Character creation: To make a character you will need paper, pencil, a book, and some basic math skills. Or a calculator will work! It is preferable that your book is a work of fiction, but not a necessity. To name your character, pick any proper name contained in your book of choice. For your skills, open to a random page for each skill and choose a word that you want to represent a skill (e.g., climb, magic, punch). To calculate skill total, find the digit sum of the page number your skill word is from. In the character example to the right, Robin’s archery skill is 8, because the page where I found “archery” was p26; 2+6 is 8 so that is his skill total. If a character is injured, mark one injury. Each level of injury adds its corresponding number to your skill rolls. They do not compound. Disease adds +1 to skill rolls. Character name: Robin Player name: Cobble Skills: 1. Archery 8 2. A PC may also attempt to use a skill if it seems applicable such as “healing” or “magic.” A PC may make a case for doing anything that is “possible” as long as it fits within any definition of one of their skill words.
