Text of statement: I am deeply saddened by the news of the crash of a Royal Navy Merlin helicopter near Sourton today. The families of those involved, and all who are affected by this terrible news, are in my prayers. I have visited the Royal Navy flying stations in Cornwall, Devon and Somerset and seen at first hand the commitment and professional of the people who serve there are. I know how devastating this will be to the whole Armed Forces community, who are also in my prayers.
