“That may be the only sensible question to come out of your mouth this entire ride,” F’jalla teased. “The answer is simple. I love the thrill of battle. The feeling of my sword piercing through an enemy’s armor is unmatched. The sounds of hundreds, if not thousands, of soldiers joined together and stomping across a battlefield is the only type of music I enjoy. “Yet, I know the cost of it all. The sad truth is that when we go to war, the ones who pay the biggest price are the ones that never see the battlefield. The mothers and fathers of fallen sons and daughters. The widows left behind by their loved ones. The children that will never again feel the embrace of a parent. “I’ve had to deliver news that nobody wants to hear too many times over to ever want to do so again. By serving the monarch, I can help prevent the wars that once ravaged our world from ever occurring again.” Ramji reflected on F’jalla’s words. It wasn’t the answer she had expected. In fact, it made the celenian seated across from her a little more human. War was an idea long forgotten to many of the people that inhabited Lidaesea. The last one, if Ramji recalled correctly, was in the third cycle half a millenia prior. That was when we made the vow to never wage war again, Shoroux noted in her mind. We would resolve things peacefully, and by our own standards. No matter the cost.

Wip snip nov 14 - trace - Yonni stared at the Wingsong soldier in front of her, lost in the deep pools of cobalt that threatened to pierce her soul. She felt her breath catch in her throat and a nervous tremble strike her hands. Her eyes quickly traced over his sharp features, chiseled jaw, and broad shoulders. “Princess Yonni Sxem, a pleasure to meet you,” the man said in a voice that was resonant and crisp, bowing before her and sweeping his magnificent gray wings. White dots flowed across them in a stippling pattern that looked like snow dancing in the clouds of a storm. “My name is Silban Awn, the celenian in charge of tonight’s banquet. I’ve come to see if you require any assistance.” Yonni’s mind ran wild with ideas. Tomekeeper, may I remind you we share a headspace? Drinex chastised. Yonni felt herself blush with embarrassment and lightly cleared her throat. She curtsied, pulling up at the fringes of the frilly pale pink dress that was left for her. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Silban,” she said. “My deepest thanks to your kingdom and monarch for having me here.” “The pleasure is mine, princess,” Silban responded with a vivid smile.

Wipsnips November 9: Landscape. 'What is this place?' Ramji mentally questioned. Her lungs felt full, but she tried not to pay attention to the unnatural lack of breathing. Her body as a whole felt like it was wading through an invisible ocean. 'How am I able to survive here?' “The aether adapts to all those that inhabit it,” Shoroux put forth. “It is life itself, melting and molding and manifesting. Such is the power and beauty of our existence. We are all filled with the cosmic matter that makes up the universe. Here in this realm there is no hunger, no thirst, no need to breathe. You exist, and that is all you need to do. Let me show you.” The ground shook beneath Ramji’s feet and made her body buzz. The ceiling pulled away from the walls, and Ramji realized she was on a platform. As it descended, the walls evaporated into brushstrokes of twinkling stars. She watched as the shining gems of the night shrank down into dotted landscapes coated in hues of red, blue, pink, and purple. Whole galaxies assembled like paintings before her eyes. “Is it not beautiful?” Shoroux asked.
