"Every border implies the violence of its maintenance" applies to gender too. TERFs only ever seek to strengthen the borders of womenhood, which can only ever deepen the violence of its maintenance. It's why TERFs use the same rhetoric as femonationalists; "we must defend our borders in order to protect cis (white) womanhood and its reproductive capabilities against the sexualised other" It's also why the GC movement is overwhelming white, straight middle-class women. Their "activism" only ever appeals to the state and women marginalised in ways other than gender are more likely to have experienced state violence. Like other fascist movements, TERFs only exist to demand the state make good on its promise (particularly its promise of policing hierarchies), not to actually challenge the state's oppression of women. That is why we saw the state unanimously side with them today. We must tear down all borders to liberate us.
