It’s the certificate Michael Scott had behind his desk in tv show The Office (US). At first glance it appears to be an educational certificate, but when you look closer it’s a certificate of authenticity for a “Quality Seyko timepiece”. It’s for a Seyko (with a Y) not a genuine Seiko watch, which makes this more amusing.

It’s a map of England and Wales, divided in to ‘North’, ‘Midlands’ and ‘South’. The line for south contains the southern fifth of England and runs roughly across the Bristol channel and along the Thames i.e. through central Bristol and central London. Making Islington, Waford and Luton part of “the Midlands”. The line for north runs from Aberystwyth through Birmingham airport and over around Great Yarmouth cutting the secondmost southern fifth of England and the southern half of Wales in to “the Midlands”. The northern half of Wales and the three northern fifths of England then make up “the North” which includes northern cities like Birmingham, Wolverhampton and Leicester. It’s a hilariously obvious attenpt to garner ‘engagement’ because nobody would think this accurate.
