So sneaky) Feil an Phobail feile_belfast An event application was submitted to this years Féile programme by a group called the Women's Rights Network. Féile an Phobail was unaware from the initial submission that this event would promote campaigns against rights for the Transgender community. Féile an Phobail takes pride in standing up for those who are marginalised and attacked. Féile was formed in 1988 at a time when the community of West Belfast was being attacked and demonised, and as a positive response to that demonisation. In recent years Féile has organised discussion events with the Transgender community, providing a platform to raise issues of pressing concern, and we fully support the right of the Transgender community to be treated with equality and respect. On that basis, Féile an Phobail has informed the organiser of this event that we are withdrawing their event. This event is no longer part of the Féile programme.

To whom it may concern, I visited your [ONE OF] shop/café/restaurant/business yesterday. During that visit, I needed to use the lavatory. I note that you have undertaken to provide separate "Men's" and "Women's" facilities. [ONE OF] [A] I asked for directions from member of staff. At no time did they try to confirm which facility was appropiate for me based on new EHRC guidelines relating to "biological sex". [B] I asked for directions from member of staff. They asked me a series of deeply inappropriate, private questions as to my eligibility for a particular facility, presumably based on new EHRC guidelines relating to "biological sex". [REVERSE ORDER AS NEEDED. A ->.C,D. B -> D, C and add "However"] [C] By not enforcing the "biologIcal sex"-based segregation which you have undertaken to provide in your infrastructure, you may be subject to litigation. [D] Challenging service users or demanding evidence of their "biological sex" may be subject to privacy-invasion-related litigation under Article 8 of the European Conventionm of Human Rights. It is also a deeply dehumanising approach to treating your customers. I sympathise with your predicament. The guidelines are unclear and contradictory. Only switching to unisex facilities would completely avoid this problem which didn't previously exist.
Thank you for your further comments about the BBC News article “Dozens of children put at risk after gender care failures at GP clinic, inquiry finds”.  As previously mentioned, the main focus of the article was the findings of the NHS inquiry, rather than a wider analysis of the treatment offered by the clinic. We did reach out to trans advocacy groups for comment on the report but they weren’t forthcoming.  You wrote in your second complaint that “- you contacted one (1) trans group but got no reply”.  I would like to highlight that in our previous reply we explained that: “For the article we contacted two prominent groups representing trans people, asking for comment, and the clinic itself, but no comments were provided. The clinic did publish a response on their website, which was reflected in the article.” We made efforts to find and reflect a range of voices and reaction and the quotes included reflect that. We note that you would have liked to have found more quotes from people disagreeing with the findings in the report. We did receive messages from a few people (not ‘many’) expressing support for the clinic, after publication, we have since followed up on these contacts and will return to them if needed in any future coverage.  I should explain that not having secured a comment  is not a bar to publication. Overall we try and provide a range of perspectives over time.

To whom it may concern, It was with concern and disgust that I saw your report "A growing threat: the anti-rights movement in the UK" published, then almost immediately have its links redirected. I can only assume this was under legal pressure from some of those anti-rights groups named in it. As someone in at least one group affected by the manufactured panics, and highly coordinated, well funded campaigns of disinformation and political pressure which you have documented, I wish to say: - I recognise, welcome and support the spotlight you put on the themes, concerns and actors in the version of the document I have seen - I am appalled by the pressures being brought against you in all-too familiar pattern - I am ashamed and angered by the UK legal mechanisms which enable this clear money-backed bullying
