A "Chune" is an original humanoid species and fictional culture created by artist and writer ⁠Cori Palladium. This worldbuilding project features various characters, lore, and artwork depicting the lives, food, and distinct appearance of Chunes within their fictional universe.

"You said you would show me the roads outside of town at night sometime, I brought my camera so I could take photographs." "Right, I did say that, and here I was thinking you were here for sex or something." "Sex? Well I wouldn't say no, but I am here to discuss infrastructure. Well, I won't keep you, I'll come by in... an hour?" "Wait, talk infrastructure, we do need to talk infrastructure. Come in, come have dinner with us, I think we have some to spare." "Oh, so I am coming in?" I grabbed his hand. "Yes you're coming in. You're going to help us, use that big human brain of yours." I said. We walked up the stairs together.

Fred Blazer had only a few moments of silence before his secretary allowed the Bonnaire representative into the meeting room. Two Chunish woman stepped in, one barely 4 feet high, the black hair and red eyes often associated with the Bonnaire Clan, as well as freckles and large front teeth. The woman beside her was significantly taller at almost 5 feet, considered tall for a chune. She had dark coffee colored skin and hair that is a thick curtain of black hair. "Good evening, governor. I am OMeko Carrot Bonnaire, This is my partner Plum Hawken." The short woman gave a deep bow and spoke with an almost awkward flatness, no inflection. She failed to meet Mr. Blazer's eyes at every opportunity, looking at his boots, out the window, all over the wall, anywhere but his face. Governor Blazer knew to expect this kind of behavior, their OMeko of the entire western Chunish community, or Chussen K'Chuch as they are called, was a notoriously awkward individual, it was clear she was not chosen for her tongue.

I entered the garage with a cigarette hanging from my lips. I punched a time card, turned on the radio, and looked at one of the Model TTs. I knew it had a burned out brake band, but we were out of parts. I thought hard about how I might try to improvise, but without any asbestos on hand, I will never be able to produce something comparable to factory quality.

"I never really was one to think much about the future." I said. The stove was a gas stove, still something of a luxury for the era, but a necessity for someone who can't stay at home to tend a coal or wood fire all day. I opened a few valves and lit a stove. I placed a kettle on top and relaxed against the kitchen counter. "Thinking too much about the future can drive you mad, I've spent my whole life living day to day, but that's different with the girls. When they were born and I was holding them to my breasts for the first time, I spent a lot of time wondering what kind of adults they will become. Now I've spent the last 5 years watching them grow from little helpless blind kits to finally being old enough to go to school. What kind of students will they be? Will they need help? Will I be proud? What if I'm disappointed? How am I supposed to handle those feelings?"

Chapter 6 Aelfried is the chunish goddess of life. Just like life, she isn't kind or gentle. She is represented by the burning desert sun familiar to those of us who live in places like Tacust in the Calibarkian desert. She may be the source of all life, and anything that moves, consumes, and thinks depend on her gift, but at the same time she is the one who burns those who bask in her light for too long. She is not a goddess of fertility or joy, she is a goddess of suffering and pain. Like the sun, her gifts to not extend underground. Many have ventured outside of her light seeking refuge from her imposition. Many have been forced outside of her light through social forces beyond their control. Either way, Aelfried is not the god of miners. You will not find shrines to her in the places where ores are found. In these places, chthonic spirits often unnamed or unknown to the sapient species of Ciolon rule. Where Aelfried's blessings and tithes are not certain, the chthonic spirits are unpredictable.

The fight came down to workshare and leadership. I grabbed my first aid kit. There was a small bottle of laudanum, it was frozen but I only needed a little bit to come out through the wide neck. I was able to pick out some broken pieces. I opened Maria's mouth and placed them on her tongue.
Maria nodded as she wondered what a Tommy knocker would look like if she saw one, besides being about child sized. She kept close to me as we walked through the dark room and pillar mine. All Maria saw were the large white monoliths lit by my lantern breaking up the otherwise pitch darkness. As we approached the back of the mine it got colder. We were far enough from the entrance to have totally lost track of it by the time we could see ice crystals growing on the gypsum. Rusting machinery glistened in the lamplight and small pools of water were entirely frozen over. I saw something entirely different. Souls stood around as if waiting for instruction. Some leaned against the gypsum and smoked ecoplasmic cigarettes. "Just relax for a bit, Maria dear. I need to speak to someone." I said. "Speak to.... who?" She asked. I held the lantern up to eye level and snapped my fingers. Energy sparked from my hands and the flame reduced to a dull red and the light dimmed. Seven disembodied spirits suddenly trained their gaze on me. They snapped to attention as if I were an officer stepping in front of privates. "You should see them now." I turned to Maria, she was completely silent, looking on with a mix of confusion and fear. "Hey, you." I said to her. I grabbed her arm, gently pulled her down to kiss her lips. "Relax. They're just spirits. It will happen to us all someday." I said.
