Corvimae @corvimae.com · Nov 30 ff8 complete, the list is updated. this game was dreadful man, idk. i will say it's impressive how much better it looks than ff7 despite both being ps1 games, overall i think its the best looking of the ps1 final fantasies. also triple triad slaps i already knew this from ffxiv but it remains true.

mechanically though what a MESS every complaint about this game is sooo real; drawing sucks, junctioning is cool but the way it disincentivizes magic use meant 95% of the game i just mashed a on attack. but hey, at least the story is also a convoluted mess that falls apart after disc 1.
I like FF8 quite a lot but my most major complaint is that every single playable character except Rinoa literally has the exact same backstory and that’s extremely deadly writing for a genre that lives or dies by its characters A prequel game having Laguna’s full story would slap
