Not really. I've used AI here and there to help with creation of internal tools (Like creating a quick dashboard for the hundreds of badges on the site so I can better manage them without looking through lines and lines of database), prototypes (if I've had a thought on the toilet or in the shower and want to quickly test it out before putting hours upon hours into coding it), and insanely repetitive backend work (like figuring out correlational data between 4-5 sets of data snapshots to understand better some site usage and performance gains I can make). The same as nearly every modern day web developer whose not using simple HTML and CSS, but I wouldn't describe ShinyDex as AI built or "vibe coded". The frontend, database, architecture, and everything users actually interact with has been built over thousands of hours of development that started back in October 2024 and I have truly placed nothing but passion, drive, blood sweat and many many tears and sleepless nights into creating this project for the enjoyment of the community. I've made my stance very clear on the use of GenAI in creation of artwork and harmful uses, but when it comes to development its just a tool in the toolbox to help someone do their job they'd otherwise spend hours googling and using StackOverflow. For ages we've created tool to help us in life: Cars were made to improve speed of travel and ease of delivery etc, Shovels were made so we didn't need to dig with our bare hands, Dishwashers created so we don't need to manually wash the dishes, Google search to find images or websites so we didn't need to manually guess everything online, Computers to make communication easier across the globe, Used responsibility, and as an enhancing tool to improve workflows, AI is powerful. But as uncle Ben once said: 'With great power, comes great responsibility.' and as long as this tool is used responsibly, in development, I don't have an issue with it.
