If you have kids in your home, keep button batteries locked up out of their sight and reach. I noticed that the newest batteries I bought have sour coating to dissuade young kids from eating them. I did touch one with the tip of my tongue and can confirm it has a very unpleasant taste. I think it’s a good backup in addition to keeping them away from kids.

I saw a thing where they put a button battery on a slice of ham and folded it over. It literally ate the ham. You do not want anyone swallowing one by accident.
