The full text follows: Conservative Party of Canada leader Pierre Pollievre suggested today that it could be unconstitutional to prorogue parliament at this time. “The reason is that if you don’t have the confidence of the House of Commons you cannot govern, under our 800-year tradition”, he said. “I would say to the Governor general, that prorogation that prevents us from testing the confidence of this crumbling government would not be allowed under the rules”. Pollievre was on CFAX 1070 with Adam Stirling today. His comments come after a significant week in federal politics, involving former deputy prime minister and finance minister Chrystia Freeland resigning from prime minister Justin Trudeau’s cabinet

🚩 This is a difficult message to write, but in the course of conducting the RAH candidate surveys, Rally Around Homelessness came upon a potential crime that is in the process of being investigated. We alerted Elections Canada, Elections Saskatchewan and the Conservative Party of Canada, as it appears Advance Regina has a mechanism that feeds unauthorized voter info into their candidate app. By using and relying upon CPC and SaskParty data that is not theirs to have, it means any candidate in possession of this app could quickly identify reliable voters and supporters, and potentially attempt to skirt around costs and efforts that would otherwise be required by a grassroots group. Given the recent nature of the last provincial election this data is freshly validated and extremely valuable. The Conservative Party has responded that they did not authorize their list to be used and will investigate. The SaskParty does not publicly list their privacy officer and so far we have not heard from them. We know this investigation will take a very long time. It could be a year or two before this is resolved and all details are reported. (Plus any $ fines.) The RAH political advocacy committee called an emergency meeting to talk about whether this was the right thing to do, but we have the evidence and believe it would be worse to sit back and pretend we don’t know what is happening and leave the public in the dark. We have been fully transparent and this weekend we alerted all candidates that the survey was sent to, originally, of our complaint to the governing bodies who are responsible for fair and transparent elections.
