We strongly suspect he has cerebellar hypoplasia, a non-degenerative condition that affects his balance and coordination. We’re going to get him fixed and then see if he would like to transition to being a friendly guy.

Our cat has cerebella hyperplasia & it’s not a problem at all. She wobbles a bit when walks sometimes. She’s able to jump up onto beds, chairs, & couches, she can’t jump as high as our other cat, but she doesn’t care. The condition is definitely not degenerative. She’s a wonderful cat!

Oh how my heart lifted when I saw that you finally caught him since it was a rush of time vs. chance of survival for CH kitten in the wild. I assume he's milder than my boy, who uses pee pads and can't climb. Anyone who's ever met a wobbly cat knows tney're surprisingly resilient...

Little round eyes
When I was active in our local no-kill cat shelter, we had 2 cats with cerebellar hypoplasia. There's "physical therapy" owners can do to help them (walking with them while supporting them with harness or "sling" underneath helps). Our two cats were adopted & progressed greatly. People are the key.
Oh those are soulful eyes! I often describe CH kitties as being in a toddlers learning to walk kind of state

Thanks so much for rescuing him! My formerly feral kittens just turned a year old and are both now friendly. Same rescuer, trapped their mama who is currently decompressing under the bed in a guest room.

I hope that won't be the final verdict for Kickstand. I had a cat go "wobbly" and it turned out he just had an ear infection, but for cats a simple ear infection can wreck havoc, since their balance is tied to their ear function. Maybe a second opinion will reveal a less detrimental diagnosis.
Oh hooray! He's a very handsome boy and looks very bright. I bet he decides that inside with treats and toys and pets is better than outside very quickly.

Kickstand is such a good name for that little guy. Huge respect for getting him safe and giving him a chance to decide indoor life for himself.
So good to hear. I just transitioned a TNR kitty. It was a long and patient process to build her trust but she got there. Now she's fully integrated into the family with two big kitty brothers and a lab mix big dog brother (her favorite new sibling). Good luck to you all! 💕🙏🏻

We have a crazy success story of a feral CH cat who was extremely aggressive and was trapped to neuter and release (then deemed too dangerous for that). Then the shelter gave him to us as a working cat, and he turned into a total cuddle bug. He thrives. Go figure.
