Lester, an anthropomorphic rabbit and a bit of a dirtbag with depression and functional alcoholism, stands in front of a door. He's nervously looking at his phone, which displays a Tinder profile. He's sweating and talking to himself. "It's just a blind date, Lester. Why are you so nervous?" Lester knocks, with a hopeful expression. "Sigh... here goes." A terrifying old woman with sharp teeth, green skin, huge pupilless eyes, antlers, and worms in her hair looms over him, grinning. "Well hello, dearie." Lester recoils in horror. "WAUGH! Um, hi. Is, uh, Nana there?" The camera shifts back to a normal angle. "Nana" (Nanny Muk) smiles at Lester, who grins, trying to hide his terror. "That's me! You must be lester. Sorry, dear, you're early - I haven't put my face on. Just a moment."
1. Tamilda's hand is scrawling an extra line on a sign posted at the bar: Do not serve patrons below the following ages: - Human, Tiefling, Halfling: 17 - Orc: 15 - Elf: 80 - Gnome: 30 - Dwarf: 1 Tamilda is adding a new line: "Tabaxi: 15" From off-panel, Maki is speaking to the bartender: "Barkeep! Two of your finest ales!"

Page 152 from the comic Love and Hex. Charlie, currently magically polymorphed into a burly and wild-looking man but normally an owlbear, stands in a dark room about to eat an enormous roasted leg of fowl. Sassy, a muscle-bound half-orc woman, stands silhouetted in the doorway, taking a seductive pose. Sassy: "I found you, mister Charlie - Hey! The food's for AFTER the ceremony!" Charlie: "I'm hungry NOW." Sassy presses him to the wall and gets in close. Charlie is confused, still holding the roasted leg. Sassy: "A rebel, are ya? Good thing I like bad boys." Charlie: "Huh?" Charlie thinks back to his experience being called a "bad boy": him as a huge owlbear with the dwarf's legs dangling from his mouth, Singing Cricket scolding him: "Charlie! Put down the dwarf! BAD BOY!" Charlie: "You like... Bad boys?" Sassy gets in even closer. Sassy: "Mm-hmm... How about you put down that axebeak leg and show me how bad you are?" Charlie: "But... It's mine." Sassy: "I'll rassle you for it." Charlie tears open his shirt dramatically. Sassy gasps. Charlie: "All right." Singing Cricket appears in silhouette in the doorway. "Charlie? Where did you -- CHARLIE!" Singing Cricket escorts Charlie out the door. "That is not how civilized people behave in public!" Sassy, one shoe off and in the midst of taking off the other, blushes with embarrassment. She wanted to rassle. "Right. Of course it isn't."

Mage: "Don't worry. I studied Draconic!"
Page 149 from the comic Love and Hex. 1. Title card: Love and Hex presents, True Tales from the Tavern. This is a clear tribute to Bryan Kelly's comic, True Tales from the Bar. The upper half of Tobias the bartender's face looks up at the titles. He wears rectangular glasses and a toque, looking like the sort of hipster guy that doesn't really exist anymore. 2. Shot from behind the bar, over Tobias's shoulder. Hey, he's also wearing a plaid shirt with a scruffy beard. He's from Harbourland. On his counter is a sliced lemon and a knife, and a small chest with eyes and teeth. That's probably a mimic. Approaching the bar are two customers: Kayra (night hag, disguised as human, young and hot) and Granny Dismal (night hag, disguised as human, ancient and scary). Kayra leans over the bar holds up two fingers. Kayra: "Two bloody marys, please!" Granny Dismal: "With extra blood." 3. Tobias starts mixing the drink, pouring liquor into a shaker. Tobias: "Heh. I actually hear that joke a lot." The ladies look respectively disappointed and displeased with his response. 4. Granny Dismal's eyes blacken. She points at the knife as a hypnotic aura emanates from her. Tobias and the mimic both follower her finger and look down at the knife. 5. Kayra grins happily as Tobias picks up the knife and holds it over his palm, sweating. Tobias: "Y-yes, of... of course, ma'am..."

She has short brown hair swept over one eye (much like her friend Tamilda's, whose older sister she is pretending to be), lots of freckles, and a revealing black dress with a slit leg. She also wears a choker featuring an upside-down pentagram. She clasps her hands, excited to do something insane in tomorrow's comic.

Something is wrong here; this doesn't look like the usual art style. It looks like it was drawn by Fran Sundblad of "Tiff & Eve" fame. Weird. 1. Tamilda is helping out with Kayra's Potions (not Poisons) stall. She is staring wide-eyed up into the sky. Singing Cricket leans on the stall and advises her. He does not notice a purple tentacle approaching behind him. Singing Cricket: "Hey kiddo, you shouldn't do that?" Tamilda: "Hm?" Singing Cricket: "Staring at the sun is really bad for your eyes." Tamilda: "Oh, right. I won't."

Singing Cricket: "❤️" Kayra: "❤️" 2: They each present their gifts to the other: Singing Cricket presents a heart-shaped box of chocolates, while Kayra presents what looks like an actual anatomical heart (from some animal or humanoid creature, we don't know). Singing Cricket: "❤️!" Kayra: "❤️!" 3: They each hold their gifts and look at them, disappointed or puzzled. The heart drips blood all over Singing Cricket's hands. Singing Cricket: "?" Kayra: "?" 4: The pair of them sit on the couch, watching the bugs perform a miniature production of Romeo and Juliet on the coffee table. Singing Cricket eats his chocolates while Kayra, resting her head against his chest, eats her heart. Singing Cricket and Kayra together: "❤️"

Page 142 from the comic Love and Hex. 1. A frog sits, pretty chill, on a lily pad in a swamp. A hand reaches down toward it. 2. Tamilda, with a sword strapped to her back, holds the frog in her hands. Eyes closed, she gives it a kiss, with a big SMOOCH in the background. 3. Tamilda recoils from a big POOF of smoke. 4. A muscular prince, with curly hair, a pencil moustache, a crown, and a long nose, looks at his hands in delighted astonishment. Prince: "Ye gods - I'm human! With TRUE LOVE'S KISS, my curse of these two hundred years is broken at last!" 5. The prince, who is clad only in crown and boxer shorts with a crown pattern on them, takes Tamilda's hand in both of his and gets down on one knee in the swampy water, among the reeds cattails. Tamilda grins awkwardly and looks away from him. Prince: "And by such a fair maid! My love, I thiank thee for freeing me with thy sweet kiss. But let us tarry not, lest the witch of these woods discover us! Come, we must make haste to my castle, where we shall be wed anon!" Tamilda: "Riiight... And where in the woods EXACTLY would that nasty old witch be found?" Prince: "The hags dwell just over yon hillside. But worry not, my beloved! Our path shall not cross those wyrd sisters." 6. With a smile, Tamilda sprints off in the direction of the forested hill. The prince, confused and distraught, reaches for her. A little frog on a nearby lily pad turns to watch. Tamilda: "Thanks! We were supposed to meet this morning, and I'm SUPER late. I'd swear the trees here change the paths for fun. I hope I haven't missed dinner!" Prince: "But - fair maid --" Tamilda: "Have fun being human!" 7. The prince watches sadly as Tamilda disappears into the hills. Prince: "But... My one true love..." 8. The prince crouches in the swamp and dips his finger into the water, his eyes downcast. The frog looks at him. Prince: "Sigh... It was nice, being a frog."

If you are into D&D or similar and like dark humor you should buy this immediately, otherwise check it out on the web and buy it then.

1. A girl and a boy, who look quite a bit like Momo and Okarun from Dan da Dan, stand under a sprig of holly. Girl puckers get lips and clasps her hands: "Look - we're under the mistletoe!" Boy looks at the decoration and adjusts his glasses with a "Hmm..." 2. Boy pulls out a sprig of mistletoe and takes a professorial stance while the girl looks at him, dumbfounded. Boy: "Actually, mistletoe has white berries. And smaller leaves. That's holly. It's a common error." 3. Girl angrily swipes the mistletoe away from the boy: "Give me that!" 4. She turns around and holds the mistletoe over her butt, sticking her tongue out at the embarrassed boy, a visual representation of the rebuke, "Kiss my ass."

Danna and Amanda from The Astral Diaries bring a gift to Singing Cricket. Kayra offers them a token in return, but there's more to it than they're expecting. In the meantime, perhaps the girls grow a little bit closer...? 1. Two girls, Danna and Amanda, bring a misdelivered package to Singing Cricket. He and Kayra open the door, clearly in the middle of something, judging by Kayra's sexy Santa outfit and drink, and Singing Cricket's lack of a shirt. Kayra: "Oh! The house didn't eat you. Hello!" Amanada: "Uh, hi! We think this belongs to you?" Singing Cricket: "Ooh!" 2. Kayra leads the girls inside while Singing Cricket opens his package. A tag falls off: "From Granny". Amanda looks around at the strange signs in the house. Kayra: "You brought my husband a present! How sweet." Danna: "It was just misdelivered." 3. In the background, Singing Cricket is attacked by the present -- it's a mimic. Amanda watches with interest. Kayra digs around in a chest, bending over. Danna watches with interest. Singing Cricket: "Aargh! Not again!" Kayra: "Even so, you deserve something too!" 4. Kayra offers the girls a large, shining jewel. The girls reach out to touch it. Kayra: "I found a pile of these behind the house." Amanda: "Ooh!" Kayra: "Take it. We have lots!" 5. The girls leave. Amanda waves goodbye at Kayra, who stands at the door and waves back. Singing Cricket continues wrestling with the mimic. The girls are both holding the jewel, their hands touching. Amanda: "Bye! Thank you!" Danna: "It's sticky." 6. Close-up on the girls' hands, and the jewel. They are nearly holding hands, with the jewel between. An eye opens on the jewel, looking up at Danna. Danna: "Amanda, I don't think I can let go." Amanda: "That's all right."

Kayra pulls out a book and starts leafing through it. "I'll find a recipe to reverse it." Singing Cricket gives his new boobs a squeeze and replies, "Take your time."
Cartoon characters Ren (right) and Stimpy (left), dressed as Frieren and Fern respectively. Really it might make more sense for Ren to be Fern since Fern is always having to deal with Frieren's antics, but then there wouldn't be a pun.

A bonus page from the comic Love and Hex. A shirtless slasher (looks like Jason Voorhees of the Friday the 13th movies) flees Nanny Muk's cottage in a panic. From inside, Nanny says, "All right, dearie, now it's your turn..." The house comes alive. Its front wall turns into a huge mouth full of pointy teeth. Its enormous tongue reaches out and lifts the slasher to eat him. From inside, Nanny continues: "Calvin, darling -- did you see where our guest ran off to?" The house chews on its victim as Nanny continues, "Never mind... I'm sure he'll turn up again." In the background, a tree chases after a raccoon, only to be swarmed by the raccoon's friends in the final panel.
