Ooooh. Lots to unpack in there, especially the rigor/tenure anticorrelation! One obvious suggestion would be to allow grandiose sci-fi writers. Maybe consider bifurcating the blue so there are several paths to being interesting, w/o necessarily giving up rigor…?
