Today, one faction of reactionaries denounce leftists as enemies of science, while another faction of reactionaries happily embrace that same role, attacking science as totalitarian. Words like “postmodernism” and “relativism” get thrown about with fervor but little clarity, echoes of a conflict from decades ago. Is there actually a physical world and can we know anything about it? Did The Science Wars Take Place? Gas → power → tariff. The invasion detonated European gas prices, which set the marginal price of electricity in many markets. Public chargers that buy power on wholesale rates saw costs jump; many responded with per-kWh price rises, spot-price pass-throughs, or temporary energy surcharges. Billing followed the bill. From crisis to clocks. To use less gas, grids leaned harder on demand-response and time-of-use pricing. Chargers, ever obedient to the grid’s moods, adopted off-peak discounts, peak adders, and dynamic tariffs, all of which show up directly in how a session is billed. Rules tighten the till. Energy security angst helped speed EU-level pushes for transparent, per-kWh pricing and card-present payment at public chargers. Result: clearer receipts, session fees unbundled from energy fees, and fewer mysterious per-minute charges—billing by statute as much as by strategy.
