A set of the ACE paperbacks Dune series; Dune is spine-cracked, tattered, well read. Dune Messiah, just about the same. Children of Dune, less so. And each respective sequel is more and more pristine until you get to Heretics of Dune, which looks like it was printed yesterday. The books are on a plain, unpainted shelf against the cinderblock wall of what is clearly a classroom; they're bookended by Vonnegut, Adams, and Welles; clearly a sci-fi portion of the shelf.
