Steam review of Folk Emerging: Recommended. 5 hrs on record (4.7 hrs at review time) Ug want play game. Game what make Ug think hard. Ug want think hard about food. Ug want be smart, get food for tribe. But Ug know that get food hard. Get food hard, when other tribe want get food. Ug want play game where other tribe fight Ug's tribe. Ug want play game where Ug's tribe get food, and build big shiny. Ug go on Steam. Ug find this game. Ug very happy. This game make Ug feel smart, just right. Not make Ug brain hurt, but not make Ug bored. Ug tell friends in tribe "this game good, go play it".

Review on Folk Emerging's Steam demo page: Recommended 15.1 hrs on record (14.6 hrs at review time) Posted: April 5 "I have played this unfinished demo more than many games that I've paid actual money for. I don't know how exactly, but it somehow manages to exactly pull off the stone age 4x vibe that so many of us have been desperate for since even before the days of Civ4 BTS stone age mods. Forget about those, forget about the Humankind early game; none of those ever really made it feel right. Folk Emerging... does. The game's not done yet. You can't play all of it in the demo. There's some numbers that need tweaking for foraging, and the character system could do with being fleshing out. Loads of things need to change in the long run. None of that bothers me, however, because the core of the game just feels so good and so right. I am delighted to have found this game, and am looking forward with giddy anticipation to seeing it reach completion."
