Baal didn’t pride himself on his familiarity with international deity ranks, but he was fairly certain that someone with a two-horned crown constituted “Not important, Acceptable to Forget” in most cultures.

Ah, Nabu. The protective cloak of nepotism has served him well; his new temple truly is the pinnacle of self-masturbatory arrogance. The walls feature freshly-painted frescos proclaiming his divine achievements—like inventing writing and teaching it to the mortals—with little concern for the fact that Nabu did not, in fact, do that. I wonder if he’s deluded himself with some bullshit technicality to steal that accomplishment from Nisaba. I have to admit, though, I admire the bronze balls of a god willing to undermine a mentor who’s a thousand years his senior.
