I know we're all mad about the steam machine price But does "vote with your wallet" still apply here if 90% of Nvidia's revenue is coming from Data Center sales now? $193 Billion in revenue, compared to $16B for gaming

a lot of those profits aren't actually realised. NVIDIA is selling chips to companies that have yet to make a single dollar of profit, so where does the money come from? Investments and other fund raising perhaps but eventually you have to pay back what you owe. There some number fuckery going on.

I'd say we could not support the companies buying the chips so they can feed us more slop, but it's almost impossible at this point. I'm sure things have gotten worse in the last 8mo, but Hank Green has a video on it: youtu.be/Q0TpWitfxPk. The tl;dw is it's everyone promising money in a circle.

How much of that "revenue" is from scaling companies they're in-turn investing into, cyclically, though? How much true, real value is being generated to back all that compute investment up? As of yet to be seen, IMO. Nvidia sure loves selling shovels, though.
