I encountered this turtle chilling by the side of the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail in West Concord, Mass., earlier today. I believe it’s an eastern painted turtle, but if you have other ideas, let me know.

Given the location and time of year almost certainly that's a female going to, or coming from, her nest site.
