Two different (but similar) PVC pipe fittings for 3" PVC pipe that allow the coupling of lengths of PVC pipe without using chemical bonding agents. This allows for re-use. And, these are the pipe couplings that are often used in high-pressure municiple water systems when doing work on them. The image shows a white RJ coupling connecting two pieces of blue pipe. The coupling is pounded into place by hammering the pipe until the splines lock into grooves on the pipe ends. This creates a tight connection so the pipes can be pressurized.
