Like one of the central things in HP is how Hogwarts has a Gender House system and you're assigned a Gender House when you're admitted to the school. You don't get to choose the Gender House that resonates with your identity and there's no way to Transfer to a different Gender House. And despite all of the problems the rigid Gender House system causes in the story (one of them is pretty much the xenophobia/blood politics House), the series does not end with any kind of dismantling or even a reformation of this system. It doubles down on it in an ill-advised Second Generation follow-up. Let me be clear, I devoured these books and was a huge fan, and there's aspects of them I still love, but with time and distance and more context about the author, there are a lot of things that are much clearer for me.
