My brown and red striped cat name Gemma is checking out a nesting coop in my newly built red chicken coop. The coop is being built in our garage at the moment. We will get chicks in March and will be able to move them out to the coop by June. Thanks for reading. Diane
Day 18 of #JanuArty #JanuArty2025 Today’s theme is “yellow”. Pictured is a very large statue of a Scottish Terrier Dog dressed in a yellow raincoat. He is also wearing blue rain boots. These “Scotties” have been placed all around Scotland as art ambassadors. They are painted to reflect the particular city in which they are placed. This particular statue is on the coast of St Andrews, Scotland. I stayed with a dear friend for a week in 2023. I will see her again this coming September. Thank you for reading, Diane
Day 17 of #JanuArty #JanuArty2025 Today’s theme is “furniture”. Chairs set up for a Sunday Service in my little Buddhist Temple. The altar is a repurposed sofa table and the cabinets on either side of the altar are repurposed library shelving units. Discarded furniture put to good use. The altar has a beautiful silk embroidered cloth. A dark skinned seated Amida Buddha stature sits on the Altar. The scroll is featured and hung on the wall and is the focal point of the altar. It is inscribed with “Namo Amida Butsu” “I take refuge in the Buddha of Infinite Wisdom and Compassion”. There are folding chairs in the foreground for those in attendance of the service. Here I am in my priest’s robes standing on the back deck of my parents’ house in Kenai, Alaska. I was ordained in Kyoto, Japan in 2003 as a Jodi Shinshu Priest (Minister). The black robe with the floral vestment is my favorite. I often don’t feel deserving of the title of priest but then again a priest is no one special. Just an everyday human being with shortcomings and flaws.

Day 14 of #JanuArty #JanuArty2025 Today’s theme is “plant”. This is a photo of the Alaska State Flower the Forget-Me-Not. It was taken in my late Mother’s garden. She passed from cancer this past October (‘24). I will always think of her when I see them in her garden. The flowers are very small. They are are a pretty blue with a tiny yellow center. They spread more and more each year. They are quite hardy. Thanks for reading, Diane.

This is a picture of all of the rosebuds that I harvested from my back yard on the Kenai River in Kenai, Alaska. Each rose hip is a beautiful hue of red. They have sharp little “hairs” on one end of the hip. So the way I eat the sweet “paste” inside is to just squeeze the “paste out the other end. Rose hips can be made into sauces like catsup and barbecue sauce. Lots of natural vitamin C! Thanks for reading, Diane
