Another good thing you can do is bow your pressure curve the other way. I also tend to dial in a MUCH LARGER brush than I want, and use very light pressure to keep it where I want it -- like instead of using a "cut" curve like yours with a brush size of 8, I'll use this one with a brush size of 30.
