There was once a shadow who was very lonely. And it was all its fault. The shadow did not like its companion. During the brightest days, it lay flat, staring up at him, dismissed and ignored. Wishing to see all that it could be. And by dusk, Its companion would make amusing shapes out of it on the wall under matchlight.  Cruel indifference by day, crueler mockery by night.  One day, the sun went away. The shadow did not question such a turn of fortune, No longer was its companion in charge of them both. So the shadow stretched far. further than it had ever gone before. Up along the trees and deep into the caves. reaching from end to end until it felt like it could swallow up the world. It was bigger than any shadow had ever been.  But shadows need shape. otherwise you could not tell it apart from the rest of the dark. It stretched for so long, it forgot what its shape was. A mere trifling matter, it could simply return home and recall the shape of its companion. But when it came home, he was already gone. Down the midnight walk to find the sun once again. It searched and searched in all its nooks and crannies, but could not find its companion. The shape stretched too thin, it worried that if it did manage to find him again, would he even recognize his shadow?  It was so focused on being the center of attention on its terms, it missed how it felt to feel the warmth of his presence under matchlight. How the shapes they made brought a smile to his face. It realized what it had lost, and wished it could dance for him one last time.  It pleaded with the matchlight left in the traveler's home to travel and reunite with its companion. Alas the light could not grant the shadow's wish. because the companion left without its shadow, the shadow could not follow on its own no matter what it did. There was truly no shape like it, and no shadow shaped like its companion.  After all, how could a shadow walk the Midnight Walk without a companion?  All it could do was stretch thinner and thinner, till it was the Dark itself. Hoping to feel its companion, and hope it would be recognized.  As its search stretched on like its body, it soon completely forgot the of what its companion looked like. All it had left of its companion's memory were the amusing shapes they made under candlelight together.  so when you sit beside matchlight under a dark night, you might come across strange, twisting shapes playing tricks on your mind. contorting itself to either resemble its companion, or remind them the games they used to play. Warmth is such a precious thing to share, especially to a lonely shadow. and there are fewer things warmer in this world than an earnest smile.

C.O.S.H.A. Incident report JY-276 Incident date: 7/1/20XX Offending party: Rubbernecker (civilian alias still unknown) Incident type: Heroism Disruption Details: Superheroes. I can't stand them. Magic complicates things but at least there's a protocol that makes sense behind them. Sigils need binding, rituals have procedures. But superheroes? Someone gets nibbled by a radioactive badger and suddenly they can stop time or control water. I'll tell you what power every superhero has: to turn infrastructure into useless slag. Incident began at 8:27 AM. Heroine Rubbernecker arrived at a COSHA Site 1186, The Placid Dunes freeway construction. She was battling a villain named the 'Vulcanizer'. Something to do with tires, but their fight ended up delaying our construction efforts by two weeks. Her abilities involve elasticity, malleability, and, I'm convinced gullibility. Cognitive evaluation rated her receptive to level D manipulation. Once The vulcanizer was apprehended and taken by security. We could not risk her running off to damage another site. So COSHA Drone 6675 Insisted she follow protocol and wear authorized protective gear while on a construction site. She just.... didn't question it, politely apologized and popped it on her head. I do not understand how these heroes function. Half of them would walk into a furnace if they were told it was an act of nobility. Once she accepted the standard issue COSHA helmet, She was brought into work reconstruction and assigned to repair the damage she caused. Hopefully this will make her be more respectful about collateral damage in the future. SUPPLEMENTAL #1: Apparently one of the additional abilities Rubbernecker has is body manipulation. before we could dress her in appropriate gear, she had already transformed her body to match a COSHA uniform almost exactly. Is.... is that her skin? should I be okay with her walking around naked with a fake version of the uniform? surely that doesn't protect her from the standard …

Fen: a-anyway, I really just wanted to express my appreciation for the husky brigade. their patrols have made me feel really safe since you guys moved in!  Rodi: :) Fen: I-I mean it's not like our small town was outright DANGEROUS at night, but now I can feel safe walking home knowing the husky soldiers are right around the corner in case anything bad happens.  Rodi: :) Fen: and the crime rate has fallen so low! It's amazing how much work you all have done... b-but I was wondering if you'd be interested in, maybe, perhaps, sometime, you had some off hours time you'd be willing to spend with some non-huskies? Rodi: :) Fen: .....hello? Rodi: Oh! Sorry citizen! I was lost in my training protocols, I hope you aren't Upset over how distracted  I am by my utter dedication to the husky brigade programming!  Fen:..... If anything it makes it more attractive *taps fingers*.
We understand that as far as clients go, our Masters and Mistresses have taken a decided pivot in what they crave. Master Melvin, for example, has been a bundle of stress in his pursuit of magic. his time at the academy in the Emerald Folium has left him fatigued and self conscious. Here at Polished Bill, a Master desiring to let go is encouraged. Few servants are as understanding and openminded for the need of submissive indulgences as the Buttlebeaks. With our soothing hypnotic techniques. Master is going to enjoy some well needed time off during the spring break and zone out with our expert pampering techniques. In time, he'll be relaxed enough to freely give his staff some orders!
Dravok prepared this spell carefully. He knew that the magics and powers of the Naga Lords were immense and insidious. The spell would ensure their minds, their bodies would always stay dragon. dedicated to dragon kind. with unceasing loyalty and pride and arrogance. All that pride and glory to Dravok simply could not fit before. With their names and their ideas and their goals in the way. Forcefully pushed out. Leaving only nameless Dragons to march in unison. to parrot his rhetoric. Their eyes spiraled, their chests heaved. They were DRAGON made manifest. A nameless Legion echoing the tenets of Dravok to all. It was time for Dravok to return. They were ready to overthrow the Naga Lords.
Worship and belief is a powerful thing. The Naga Lords knew that. It's why their natural hypnotic abilities lent so well to powering incredible magics. But Dravok is one of the oldest masters of such power. How do you think it feels? to have the natural submission towards another tugged from your very soul? etched in your DNA? Kobolds made for such ideal subjects to magic. As if their minds had a long forgotten groove woven into them. Waiting for the day to be sculpted like clay into what their rightful master sought.
The Naga Lords had their kingdoms, their magic, and their legacy etched into the very stones we walk on. But in some regions, those stones were once laid as foundation by the dragons. The dragons may have eventually fallen into the thralldom of the Naga Lords like many of us, but that did not mean they were helpless victims themselves. Only another link in the despotic chain. One such despot was Dravok, the self proclaimed god of dragons. whose arrogance led him to weave such dragon pride in every Dragon that came after. It's why they're celebrities, why they compete, and why they try to find positions of leadership to show they are the best at whatever they do. The kobolds that follow them admire such pride, hoping to one day emulate that strength as their close cousins. little did they know that such pride was not a natural instinct baked into their blood, but etched there thousands of years ago.
Darkwitt attempting to seduce Shiba. " you know you can tell how fresh a loaf of bread is by the sound it makes when you squeeze it. I wonder what sound you'd make." Shiba responds "No offense, but the professional suave man bit doesn't quite do it as much for me as other things you do." Darkwitt turns into a large monster and asks "IS THIS MORE WHAT YOU'RE LOOKING FOR?" Her tail wags. yes it is. Shiba and Darkwitt find themselves in each other's orbit from time to time. Darkwitt's been trying to practice his flirting game, but she doesn't really see him as a 'gentleman' so much as a 'horrific paralysis demon that will turn her into an urban legend if she's not careful.' 
She never imagined she would draw the attention of high society. A girl from the galapagos didn't really HAVE celebrities beyond a government official or a live performer.  That all changed when she had moved to vegas. Still a low level reporter, serving as a glorified advertiser for the venues on display. but people enjoyed her well enough, and she was seen for what she was as compared to home.   Cognizant brought about a level of fame she wasn't ready for. Shortly after Hypnovember, she received an invitation to the annual Royal Winter Venue, graciously offered by the Duke of Unknown, Alan Miller, who had taken a fancy to her broadcasts during his time in the VIP section of the Fin Fortuna.  A few nobles were starting to take notice of Cognizant and had to try for themselves.  She remembered how beet red her father's chest got when she said she was leaving the island. That no 'son' of his would be caught dead recognized in a dress.  Well look at her now, father. hobnobbing and schmoozing with beautiful people in fancy attire.  Just like her.
