Hopefully after Democrats run 2300 focus groups and do a few hundred polls, they'll use this to their advantage.
If only it m made a difference to the current government what voters want. It doesn't. Voters can so easily be persuaded to vote for candidates who don't support anything they want. So what they want isn't a factor, at least for the GOP. bsky.app/profile/upin...
I don't want AI to be sped up or slowed down. I want there to be oversight & regulation, especially the violent uses. There isn't going to be any meaningful legislation. The speculative money has already corrupted our systems. About all we're going to see is the appearance of action...
The level of support is interesting but the reason behind it matters. Concerns about energy use, water consumption, grid strain or AI itself could all lead people to support a pause yet each points to a very different policy response. What's actually driving that support?

I don't understand what a one-year pause really does. AI data centers just need to be banned outright.
