A photographer since the mid-1970s being published since the early 1980s. I was born and grew up in the UK. Canada has been my home since the 1990s.

The first time I posted this photo several internet "experts" claimed it was AI. I corrected them before blocking them. In reality the photo was made with a 10 year old base model mirrorless camera and the plastic telephoto kit zoom that came with the camera. One of only a handful of bird images in my archives made with an auto focus lens.

The seller shipped the lens with no end caps in a padded envelope. I suppose I'm lucky it's still in one piece.

An expanse of blue sky with a few small, white clouds fills the top two thirds of the image with the rising sun on the horizon in the mouth of the bay. The bottom third of the image is gently rippling water reflecting the sky and rising sun. Part of my Getting Back To Basics project made with a manual focus ultra wide angle prime lens. Photographed the way I used to make images in the film era, slowly and methodically.
